- I have a MaxTech 14.4 FAX/Data/Voice modem. Many times, after failing
- to make a connection, it causes the entire machine to freeze. The only
- recourse is to power off. This happens in Windows 3.1 *and* Win 95. I
- can get some relief if I make sure the port and communications software
- are both using software (xon/xoff) flow control, but I have problems if
- I try to use hardware flow control. Does this sound like a bad modem or
- I/O card or both? I only discovered the flow control settings after
- installing Win 95. Flow control isn't talked about very much.
